“It was a nightmare to work with her!!! She couldn’t hit her mark and she was late!” At least actor Lukas Gage, known for his role in the series The White Lotus, resorted to something distinctly human – humor – to take aim at digital actress Tilly Norwood. The presentation of Norwood by her promoter Eline Van der Velden, head of Particle6 Productions, a London-based artificial intelligence (AI) firm, has triggered a barrage of negative reactions in Hollywood.

The outrage stemmed from two reasons: first, the comment accompanying the all-digital video showcasing the AI actress’s feats was somewhat provocative toward actors: “In 20 seconds I fought monsters, fled explosions, sold you a car, and nearly won an Oscar. All in a day’s work… literally! Find yourself an actress who can do it all. (hi 👋) so, which tilly are you today?” posted Norwood on Instagram.

More importantly, her creator, Van der Velden, revealed that she was in talks with agents in the entertainment industry to have her digital actress perform in real productions. “We’re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her in the next few months,” she said on September 27 in Switzerland during the Zurich Film Festival.
