HANCOCK CO., Ky. (WFIE) – New information from Hancock County, the Hawesville Century Aluminum plant has been sold.
According to a press release, a company called TeraWulf has plans to redevelop the site into an AI Data Center.
The TeraWulf website shows the company is known for bitcoin mining and high-performance computing.
As we’ve reported, the Century plant was idled in 2022 due to high energy costs, but restarted production last August.
Officials say the redevelopment of the Hawesville site is expected to create new jobs, both construction and permanent positions, and generate economic activity for the region.
